5G technology
4G, 5G NSA, and 5G SA
Mobile coverage on 5G Signal Finder is separated into the technologies phones actually report. This page is the map of those labels.
Three labels, three meanings
4G, in this product, means LTE. It is still the network many calls, uploads, and fallbacks depend on. 5G NSA means a 5G radio with the session anchored to LTE. 5G SA means a 5G radio with a 5G core. The point of separating them is so a map does not paint three architectures as one color called “5G.”
4G LTE
LTE is a complete mobile broadband system and the anchor for NSA. An area with strong LTE and no 5G observation is not an empty map. It is a 4G observation. Keeping it visible matters when you are comparing what phones could actually use.
